For applicants who wish to engage in clinical epidemiological research
We recommend the four-year doctoral degree program leading to a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) for students wishing to study dental clinical epidemiology to solve research questions in clinical practice settings.
Research at the Graduate School of Dentistry
Research topics will be designed by the individual student based on clinical questions, and data from dental practice settings will be collected and analyzed. As a typical case, clinical research in the first year will be designed through lectures and on-the-job training classes. In the second year, Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved research will be initiated, while in the third year, data analyzation will be conducted and preparation for the student's thesis will proceed. Students able to demonstrate steady progress may be eligible to study overseas for a certain period in the third or fourth year.
Expected career course
Dentist-scientist, international postdoctoral fellow, clinical epidemiology researchers, and educators.
